Two masked men walked into the Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Palo Alto at 2:40 p.m. Thursday and walked out with an undisclosed amount of money, Police Sgt. Sandra Brown said.
The bank, at 400 Hamilton Ave., was closed as the police conducted the investigation.
The men entered shouting that they were robbing the bank, Brown said.
The men are described as black, ages 25 to 30. One man, wearing dark clothing and a dark baseball cap, had a thin build and stood by the bank's door, watching customers. He had his arm behind his back, as if he had a gun, but the bank's cameras showed he didn't have a weapon.
The second man, wearing tan pants, a brown shirt with tan stripes and a brown hat, had a heavier build and collected the money.
Both men had white bandanas over their faces and wore sunglasses.
Police are hoping that a witness may have seen them get into a car nearby, Brown said. Anyone who saw the men is asked to call police dispatch at 650-329-2413.
