The man who was killed last Saturday while stringing Christmas lights outside an East Palo Alto apartment building has been identified as Raldy Sarceno-Cardona, 23, of East Palo Alto.
Sarceno-Cardona, an employee of Page Mill Properties, was on a ladder stringing lights on a Redwood tree when the lights touched a PG&E electric line, electrocuting him.
Fire crews arrived to find him hanging about 60 feet from the ground, apparently fused to the tree, Menlo Park Fire Protection District Chief Harold Schapelhouman said.
"This is a young man and nobody wants this type of thing during the holidays," Schapelhouman said. "He was just trying to make things brighter in East Palo Alto."
