Mountain View police are asking for the public's help in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident Monday night on El Camino Real.
A 60-year-old man was found by a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus driver lying on the side of the road near the intersection of westbound El Camino Real and Escuela Avenue at approximately 7:10 p.m.
The man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. His identity is not being released pending notification of his next of kin.
"We only identified him tonight," Mountain View Police Department spokeswoman Liz Wylie said Tuesday.
Investigators are interested in talking to anyone who may have been walking or driving in the El Camino Real and Escuela Avenue area at approximately 7 p.m. Monday. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who has information about it is asked to call Officer Tim Minor at 650-903-6344.
Mountain View police officers and volunteers will be handing out flyers about the accident in the area where it occurred tonight between 6:30-7:30 p.m. Motorists in the area may experience traffic delays as a result, according to Wylie.
