Gunn High School is collecting donations for the family of the student who was brutally attacked last week.
The money will help cover medical bills and a laptop computer so the student can study at home while recovering, Principal Noreen Likins said.
A group of parents from the Gunn PTA is organizing an outreach collection effort and an on-campus fundraiser, she said. Details will be shared when finalized, she added.
Meanwhile, checks made out to Gunn High School with "student assistance" written in the memo can be dropped off at the Gunn Main Office or mailed to Gunn Main Office, 780 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, CA 94306.
The school will pool all collected money at the end of November and give the student's family one large check, Likins said.
The girl was attacked Oct. 30 near her home on Arastradero Road.
A man slammed her face into the ground and dragged her into his car, then sexually assaulted her. She later escaped in Sunnyvale and was hospitalized for two days.
A suspect, 20-year-old Todd David Burpee, was arrested on Nov. 1 and is being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose.
