Statement from Mike McGovern

"I was overwhelmed by the love and support I received from the students and the staff on my behalf last Friday. It was so gratifying to see their heartfelt gratification for and validation of a program that has been at Paly for so many years.

The people who saw me after my meeting with the principal on Thursday afternoon saw how upset I was and know I would never have been that upset if the discussion with her had just been a matter of student safety. As it was, it not only veered into content but the very premise upon which that particular reenactment is based, a reenactment that has been presented to the Paly community for seventeen years before almost three-thousand people.

Yes, I was furious and rightfully so."

Very sincerely,

Mike McGovern
