With the field closed after the 5 p.m. Friday deadline in the race for a seat on the Palo Alto Board of Education, six candidates have registered for the Nov. 6 election, according to a Santa Clara County elections spokeswoman.
Three seats on the five seat board are up for grabs.
Incumbent Camille Townsend is running for a second term, but current members Mandy Lowell and Gail Price, who have already served two terms, are stepping down, a district tradition.
Townsend will be challenged by former PTA President Melissa Baten Caswell, repeat candidate Claude Ezran, Pingyu Liu, former chair of the city's Human Relations Council Wynn Hausser and math education specialist Barbara Klausner.
Candidate financial statements are due in September.
The terms of Dana Tom and Barb Mitchell expire in 2009.
