An Opportunity Center resident was arrested Friday afternoon after he punched through a glass window at Town and Country Village Shopping Center, stole an item and returned bleeding to the El Camino Real low-income apartments and homeless drop-in center.
Paul Anthony Miller, 32, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, according to Sgt. Sandra Brown.
The incident began about 12:44 p.m. Friday, when police received a call from Opportunity Center staff that Miller was bleeding and uncooperative.
When police arrived, Miller got into a physical altercation with them, Brown said.
Blood was everywhere, she said.
When he had been subdued, Miller was taken to Stanford Hospital for his bleeding hands and two police officers were treated for exposure to blood, Brown said.
Brown said she believed Miller broke into a vacant office at Town and Country. She did not know what he had taken.
She did not know if drugs or alcohol were involved, but Miller was behaving as if he was mentally ill, Brown said. He was booked at Santa Clara County Main Jail, she said.
