Blaine Marchant, the Palo Alto High School graduate who overturned his graffiti-covered car on campus as a senior prank, wants his criminal case dismissed and prosecutors won't object after Marchant settled with the school district, an official said today.
Marchant, 18, is currently charged with a single count of misdemeanor vandalism, but his attorney has filed a motion to dismiss the charge following the reported settlement agreement with the Palo Alto Unified School District. Deputy District Attorney Staci Homrig said her office would not contest the dismissal motion.
"When parties reach a civil compromise that is fair, as this one appears to be, we do not generally object," Homrig said.
Homrig would not provide details of the settlement and school district officials were not immediately available.
Marchant left his upside-down Volvo on campus during the first week of June.
