East Palo Alto workers go on strike
Nearly 30 employees walk off jobs this morning
About 27 East Palo Alto city workers went on strike this morning
after negotiations broke down last night.
Workers and the city say they are separated on three points. The
union wants a salary increase, binding arbitration and a requirement
that all employees in each classification would be required to be
union members.
The union has scheduled a news conference for noon today.
The City Hall Annex building, which includes the Planning Department,
is closed today due to the strike. City Hall remains open.
