Measure E passed by voters
Foothill-De Anza college district will receive $248 million for repairs and improvements
Foothill and De Anza colleges will get money for the repairs district officials say are long overdue. Measure E, the $248 million renovation bond, passed with 72 percent of the vote, easily surpassing the 66 percent needed.
"We are overwhelmed with the level of support we have received from our community," said Leo Chavez, chancellor of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. "We are grateful for the confidence our community has placed in us and I want to give my assurance that the funds will be spent effectively."
The funds, which will be collected on residents' property tax
bills, will be used to repair, renovate and expand the two colleges, building
new classrooms and science labs. Foothill College was built in 1967. De Anza
was built in 1957.
