Return Eshoo, Lempert

It is a tribute to the strong bipartisan support enjoyed by Democratic Rep. Anna Eshoo and Assemblyman Ted Lempert that neither face strong opposition in the general election.

Both have achieved this election security by hard work and dedicated constituent service, and both are good matches for the liberal-tilting, progressive electorate that makes up their districts.

Eshoo, despite the grueling airplane travel, is home in the district almost every weekend to attend community functions, meet with constituents and remain alert to the concerns and issues facing the area. She has been instrumental in securing support for East Palo Alto, for the high tech industry and for keeping the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park.

Lempert is seeking a second two-year term in the Assembly, although he previously served two terms from 1988 to 1992 before his district was erased in reapportionment and he went on to serve two years as a San Mateo County supervisor. Lempert's work has been primarily in the area of education and the environment, and this year he sponsored the law that increased the number of authorized charter schools in California.

Eshoo's and Lempert's accomplishments could fill this page, and their constituents should have no difficulty re-electing them by overwhelming margins for two more years.
