Passport information: All persons traveling
by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport. As early as June 1, 2009, all persons traveling between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda.
by land or sea (including ferries) may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. Passports are currently processed in less than a month. With an additional $60 for expedited service, a passport application may be processed within three weeks.

The Main Post Office and the Stanford Station have applications, which you can also download from the Web site (below), and process the applications. Applicants can renew passports by mail if the current one is less than 15 years old and you were at least 16 when it was first issued. If renewing in person, bring the old passport, current identification and two identical color photos. If applying for a new passport, bring in a birth certificate, proof of U.S. citizenship and two identical passport photos. Passports for children under 14 require in-person appearance, notarized written consent of both parents, or notarized documentation showing evidence of sole custody or evidence of legal guardianship or parentage. Fees: $100 for first-time applicants 16 years old and over (takes 10 weeks); $85 for children under 16; $75 for adult renewal application by mail only.
