Acquires and preserves natural open space and provides for low-intensity public recreation. District encompasses population of 741,000 in 550 square miles, including 17 cities and areas of three counties between Los Gatos and San Carlos. Maintains more than 50,000 acres of open space in 25 preserves.

2006-07 budget: $20.2 million

Board meets second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the district office.
