Los Altos Golf & Country Club
1560 Country Club Drive, Los Altos. Private club with 18-hole golf course, pool, tennis courts. Special events and dining in a beautiful setting. Club is in Mission-style architecture. Three types of memberships are available: Social membership (no golf), proprietary membership with all amenities and intermediate membership for adult children (age 25-40) of propietary members. Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club
3000 Alexis Drive, Palo Alto. Founded in 1958. Golf, pool, fitness center and tennis courts. Also catering facilities for weddings and events. Two types of memberships are available: social membership (limited golf) and golf proprietary membership with full privileges to the golf course and club facilities. Call 650-948-1800.

Stanford Golf Course
198 Junipero Serra Blvd., Stanford. Open to Stanford Alumni Association members, students and faculty of Stanford University and their accompanied guests. Fees vary depending on membership. Emerald Hills

Mariner's Point Golf Links
2401 E. 3rd Ave., Foster City. Take U.S. Hwy. 101 to Third Avenue exit east. Golf teaching and practice center. Facility includes short game areas, driving range and 9-hole course. Reservations available. Lighted course open year-round until 10 p.m. Rates vary. Call 650-573-7888.

Palo Alto Golf Course
1875 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto. Par-72 golf course, driving range, restaurant and pro shop. Lessons offered. Practice putting green. Tee time reservations can be made in person, online or by phone. Standard weekday rates: $39 for 18 holes; $23 for 9 holes. Weekend: $49 for 18 holes, $27 for 9 holes. Rates vary for senior, juniors and tee time. Carts are available. Call 650-856-0881.

Poplar Creek
1700 Coyote Point Drive, San Mateo. 18 holes. Clubhouse includes a pro shop, restaurant and event facilities. Tee-time reservations can be made online, by phone or in person. Lessons available.
