Dance'Rooted' by Ali McKeon
Choreographed by Ali McKeon, currently a dancer for Menlowe Ballet, the performance "Rooted" will capture the changing contemporary dance community of Maui, Hawaii, while exploring themes of beauty, Aloha, community, tension, resentment and disorientation. Led by French-Algerian choreographer Mourad Merzouki, Compagnie Kafig will offer a performance called "Kafig Brazil" that fuses circus acrobatics, martial arts and street dancing. April 21, 7:30 p.m. $30-$65. Bing Concert Hall, 327 Lasuen St., Stanford.
DanceWestern Ballet: 'Snow White'
Western Ballet will perform the world premiere of Director Alexi Zubiria's "Snow White" ballet, which draws from a compilation of Shostakovich ballet suites and presents original choreography. The show depicts the classic fairy tale of a young maiden, a jealous queen and comical dwarves. April 24, 7 p.m.; April 25, 1 p.m. $25 adult; $20 child. DanceBallet Folklorico of Half Moon Bay
In this celebration of Dia de los Ninos (Day of the Child) for all ages, the Ballet Folklorico of Half Moon Bay will perform the regional dances of the Mexican state of Sinaloa. DanceCarolina Lugo's & Carolé Acuña's Ballet Flamenco
On Mother's Day, Carolina Lugo and her daughter Carolé Acuña will lead a company of Flamenco musicians and dancers in a show full of footwork, clapping hands and song. DanceSocial ballroom dancing
Friday Night Dancers organizes ballroom dancing events each Friday and Saturday evening. Each event starts with a lesson, which is followed by general dancing.
